京都御所 紫宸殿の右に位置する左近桜（さこんのさくら）。右近橘に相対した。平安京の時代から様々な艱難にあいながら、接がれ続けて今も凛として立つ。なんというか、群れていない桜の見事さに息を呑む。この1本を愛でるために歩く価値あり。
左近桜という名称は、殿上で儀式のあるときこの桜の方に左近衛の陣を敷いたことによるそうだ。
There is a old cherry tree at the garden of KYOTO Imperial Palace.It is located the right side of the Shishinden Hall. It stand opposite to "Ukon no Tachibana".It is still dignified and stands even if it continued to suffer disaster from Heian period. How should I say..., I hold breath in the splendor of the cherry tree which does not herd.How can I say..., I hold breath in the splendor of the cherry tree which is independent. I find great value in walking only to enjoy this cherry tree.
